House League – The fall season is almost at an end. Finals will be played January 11th starting at 1:00

Sign-up sheets for the Winter House League are up now.

Juniors – Our Junior program is running strong. Nicole Carroll, along with the help of Dane Sharp, Michelle Huot, Jey Ratnasingam, Patrick Clinton, Justin Linton and Cameron Merrick has been running Sunday clinics for the Juniors. The last clinic before Christmas was run Nov 30th. The sessions were full with approximately 20 Juniors participating in the Beginner group (4:00 – 5:00) and 20 Juniors participating in the Intermediate group (5:00 – 6:00).

The popularity of squash with Juniors is a great sign for the continued strength of the sport within the Pickering Recreation Complex.

The winter clinics, which begin January 11th, are already filled.

Doubles Court Mania

After a very successful fund raising effort in our first Golf Tournament, the goal of doubles courts for Pickering is beginning to be a reality.

We have promised the City that we would partner with them to help cover the cost for the new courts and we are well on our way to achieve our monetary commitment.

The Doubles committee has suggested selling the "Golf Book" over the holidays. This book contains coupons for various gold courses in the area to save money on green fees. The book sells for about $65.00 of which the Club would get a commission for each book sold.

Lead by Kevin Cahill we need volunteers to staff sales booths at the recreation center, the hockey rinks or at the mall for a few days this December. This book is a great gift for the Golf person on you holiday list.

You can order your copy from any of the club executive. If you can volunteer for a shift during one of the sales days that would even be better. Please contact, Kevin to arrange a time and place.

Doubles squash is a very social game. The doubles courts will make our facility one of the best squash facilities in Ontario. The courts will also attract world-class players to Pickering to play in our doubles tournaments.

So I ask you to get involved with us as we improve the sports facilities in Pickering.

Fall Flight Tournament

The Fall Flight Tournament was held on November 21st, 22nd and 24th. I was surprised with the low number of participants that entered the tournament considering the number of active club members we have here at the Pickering Squash Club. The final count was 35 men and a disappointing 6 women. Where was everyone?

Although the number of participants was low, the tournament went very well. The finals were held on the Monday evening which was a success!

Congratulations to all the winners.
